Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network

The Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network is part of the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme and one of 701 Biosphere Reserves in 124 countries worldwide. Biosphere Reserves are learning sites for sustainable development, and promote participatory activities for climate change management and for learning on climate change impacts and related solutions.The Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network’s mission is to implement the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme to improve relationships between people and their environments.

Frontenac Arch Biosphere Foundation

Originally established in 1965 as the Barbara Heck Foundation, the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Foundation is a non-profit charity created in 2013 to support education and research for conservation and sustainable development in the Frontenac Arch Biosphere. The Foundation’s primary focus is operating the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Nature Camp at the Landon Bay Centre. Each summer, area children learn through outdoor experiences and education about protection of natural, cultural, historical and spiritual heritage, including United Empire Loyalist and First Nations history. The Foundation collaborates with the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network by providing financial support for programs and initiatives.
